We took everything we learned from our original V1 and rebuilt it using the same high-performance engineering found in our flagship models. The V2 Essential offers the sleekest, lowest-profile protection in the lineup, giving you the confidence to charge harder without the weight of a traditional helmet.

Why Version 2? (The V1 vs. V2 Difference)

If you’ve worn our Version 1, you’ll feel the difference the moment you paddle out. We’ve moved beyond the "bump cap" era to deliver a true performance surf helmet:

• 100% Head Coverage: While V1 focused on the crown, V2 features a redesigned internal architecture that provides 360-degree coverage, protecting your head from every angle.

• Upgraded Impact Foam: We’ve replaced off-the-shelf inserts with our custom-engineered, impact-resistant foam. It absorbs significantly more energy while covering 20% more surface area than standard plastic-cap inserts.

• Hydrodynamic Design: Engineered for the water. The V2 features refined drainage and a more ergonomic shape to minimize drag during duck dives and heavy wipeouts.

• Enhanced Comfort & Fit: A more refined strap system and internal geometry mean the helmet sits more securely and comfortably, even in the impact zone.

Understanding the "Essential" Build (No Reeflex)

This specific model is the V2 Essential. It features all the structural and foam upgrades of Version 2 but does not include the Reeflex Slip-Layer technology.

By removing the Reeflex layer, we’ve created our most flexible and lightweight version yet. It’s the perfect choice for surfers who prioritize:

1. Ultra-Low Profile: Without the extra slip-layer, this is the slimmest fit we offer.

Sizing Guide & Fit Tips

Important Fit Note: This version of the V2 is designed with a more streamlined, compact profile. These sizes fit smaller than the Surf Skull V2 with Reeflex. If you are between sizes or accustomed to the fit of the Reeflex version, we highly recommend measuring your head circumference before ordering.

How to Measure:

Use a soft measuring tape (or a piece of string and a ruler). Wrap it around your head about 1/8" above your ears and across the middle of your forehead—exactly where you want the hat to sit.

Pro Tip: If you are at the very top of a size range (e.g., 57cm), we recommend sizing up to a Large for the most comfortable fit.
